After a long and varied career working in wood and metal, I am now almost completely retired. I might be tempted out of retirement by a combination of fascinating project, enough time and a lot of money. My style is a variant of Barcelona Art Nouveau with occasional excursions into Wood-Butcher, as practiced in logging camps. I like wood but I don't worship it. If you've found a gorgeous flame-grained slab of Kerguelan Island Goombuwali-wood (with the bark on it and everything) from which you want a bedstead, please consult somebody else. I work with my own designs and in properly dried, pattern-grade Honduras mahogany or American Black Walnut with occasional forays into more exotic materials. I won't touch pirated tropical hardwoods. I have little skill with, or liking for veneer and I most fervently hope I've made my last dovetail. |
